just looking to put some rope on my high mount and a friend directed me to this site, given the strong state of the auzzie dollar atm, and the cheap price of american rope this seems like an offer way to good to refuse.

would like to know if anyone has used it before, and also as an eoi at this stage wondering if a group buy would be worth organising

Why not just wire rope?
I have both and see little if any advantage in the sythetic line......
Fair enough its light, but my navi isn't that weak that the wire line is to heavy...
I have seen many many synthetic lines break at the worst posible time yet the wire rope just keeps pulling......
I supose to me the only advantage is no wire spliters and safer when it lets go, which seems to be a regular thing as it ages....

I think a lot of people buy it because it is trendy to have maybe ?

As said I am not knocking it, as I have both on my trucks, but I was wondering on your views...

rope is good for comps on the race truck, but for my weekend basher steel cable all the way, far less maintanance and $90 oppose to $600 onwards for decent rope. dont have to wash out and dry after every drive and for draging trees etc i dont need rope. anyways how much for this stuff you talking?

just by looking at their site, it works out to roughly, 330 (american) posted with hook for 3/8" (11mm) by 125ft (40mtrs) so its fairly cheap but with a group buy im sure we could barter with them, ill shoot them an email and see if they want to play ball. thanks all for your replys and i encourage all interested to check out their site first as they have 3 types of rope avaliable!

AFAIK importing anything with value over USD$1000 attracts more taxes/duty (or something like that).

i am not sure about that and will have to look into it but i cant see the taxes playing a part in this as they are mostly on consumer electronics and im sure there are ways around it!

cseoffroad.com and roadlessgear.com are cheaper.

cseoffroad are throwing in a free billet fairlead, mine are on the way atm.
they also do a cool "no hook" safety thimble more suited for road cars.

by the looks of it they are all from winchline anyway and im sure we would be better off getting it from the supplier in the end plus i can use their competitors as bargaining power

your advice seems to be ignored..

i want rope for the no kinking or binding also the safety aspect of rope, this rope apparently by looking at specs comes close to dynamica rope, so you shouldnt (if used properly) snap it where wire would snap

mildly interested. it could be the thing that pushes me into putting the PTO on the 80.

Plus a lot less weight on the front of the car.

ok so it seems there is enough intrest here to warrant a group buy, once i hear back from winchline i will let you all know and start one up in the for sale section, untill then i suggest looking at their site and working out what suits you best.

for those of you with lowmounts esp old style not made for plasma i suggest either combo or fire line, as it has a heat threshold high enough to be used with an internal brake

ok got an email back from winchline, seems like americans are hard fkrs, he said for more then 3 he will knock off postage, which is good news as it will remove about 35 odd dollars to bring each rope in at under 300 american, but still i want either a. free stuff (like a billet hawze fairlead) or b. to pay less, so i kindly stated that we would have 10 to 15 people interested with the right deal, and i am waiting for a reply back

i would be intested if you gould get a larger diameter rope (at least 12mm) and if it can be cut in 55 mtr lengths

At a guess 20 - 30 kg's in weight difference.

100ft 3/8 inc hook from my Ironman - 13.5KG
100ft 5/16 plasma with safety thimble - about 2.5kg

10KG doesn't sound that much, but try it under tension over a 50ft length, it all changes.

same as DD slightly interested depending on rope length wether it comes with hook or safety thimble, and heat sheath ...... if its 35m of either 8 or 10mm rope im in if u can get it landed for under $300
