Hi All,
Recently rolled my Gq Wagon, about to start building a GQ extra cab,
I have decided definantly going rear airbag, cant decide on front?
Will be using the Firestone bags,
Apart from the poping a bag and other usual negative feedback on airbags has any one tried it?
Cheers

there was a guy off here with bags very very well setup and well nd truely over engineered and it still looked a bit bouncy. just kept wobbling side to side after bumps. might be better with use of a second shock

hmm, i thought that with the side wobbling as you described,
May need to have sway bars still attached for on road
Thanks for input

PM Hobzee off here, he has run them all round on a GU ute comp truck he had and he had a couple of top tens in the Outback Challenge with that set up, at the time he loved the set up.

We race a turbo V6 Suzuki with air bag rear and coil over front, with the correct sway bar it is very stable, I've just done a similar setup in my GQ ute but I'm not up and running yet. Correct sway bars are a must. Air bags offer superior traction due to the more constant spring rate, and give the advantage of being able to level the vehicle for load, or even lift the rear a bit if going up big inclines etc.

The airbags and setup that Hobzee and myself sell are not Firestone so you get different characteristics.
According to the manufacturer you should get less body roll with his air bags unless you cross link them as people do for off road flex. You can put a valve in there to switch this on or off.
So you can get 10" of suspension travel with power to the ground through this range and you can raise it up in theory by 10" to clear an obsticle or when off road etc.
Air bags on the rear is probably a lot cheaper then what you would expect and the front for that matter. A similar price as rear coils and polyairs and easy to install. Add $100 for the in cab kit if you have your own compressor.
Softer shocks work better with these bags instead of firmer shocks.
You can get struts with air over bags, like a coil over but with air bags. They are a bit dearer though.
Shane.

I don't have them on my web site yet so there is not point looking there for them.

thanks guys for your feedback, Anybody else run them,
Also what shocks would people recommend,
looking at Bilstein, Tough Dog Adjustable or maybe Koni have to do some research on their travel thou,
cheers
