Im Starting to upgrade my Other Car (Toyota 4Runner 1990)

Im wondering what you guys think is worth doing first?!?

Im Thinking of puting in..
an

Airlocking diffs
or
2 Inch lift kit

If you think im better of putting lift kit in first What brand and how much should i go!??!

Is there a major difference between the cheeper and the mor expencive lift kits??

And Suspension or body lift?

Cheers

2" alloy body lift, 80 series standard rear springs, either the 4" Snake racing bolt-on IFS lift or 1" Ball Joint Spacer kit or both. Next come headlight wiring loom upgrade, long range tank and I agrre with the diff locks, Auto for the rear and air for the front. Rock sliders instead of side steps.

Air lock it front and rear, I wish I did it on my hilux when I bought it and when I sell it and buy an 80 that is the first thing to happen followed by tyres.

Lift is cheap overall and can be done piece by piece, you can't exactly airlock cheap nor get the same benefits from lift.

What kind of wheeling are you going to be doing. IFS lifts will only get you so far with factory components. If your going to be wheeling where you need a bigger tire and good articulation go with a SAS.

SAS the front with 3" springs. There are a few companies out there that sell SAS kits and for the most parts they come with the same pieces. From my experience Trail-Gear, Marlin and All Pro are great kits. All of the kit are about the same price but some of the kits have different products in them.

Body lifts only gives you body to ground clearance. You can fit a bigger tire with a body lift for more axle to ground clearance. A suspension lift gives you more body/frame to ground clearance and will also allow for bigger tires for better axle to ground clearance. Also you have the advantage of a suspension that will keep your tires on the ground and a smoother ride.
You would be amazed on how far you can go with more ground clearance and bigger tires. Learning to drive without lockers will make you a better wheeler. Don't get me wrong get lockers when you are able to. This is how I would start.

where does the vehicle struggle most? does it get hung up on the chassis, or does it lift wheels?

i havnt had this car for long,

Western Australia Road Rules only allow you to lift it maximum 2" from Stock Standard....

Ummm... It Flogs over all my Mates car. Being an old Oversprung Toyota. So Clearance is.. Alight..

I dont want to go messing around with tyre sizing to much. OR then it Plays with you gearing and tht... im going to stick with the 30"x10.5"'s....

Ummm.... Yeah. i think ill look into the Suspension Kit first. But as i said,.,, Only allowed 2" unless you get licenceing and permition n tat from Piggyz,...

Any other ideas on suspension people??

Jason,

Thanks for the help, Just wondering, Exacly what is the difference between IFS and SAS? and if i were to lift the front 2-3" with this SAD suspension stuffs. What would i do to the back? or would my Rear just be 3" Lower LOL??

Also, Do you have any idea on price difference and Quality Difference?!

SAS=Solid Axle Swap. You would cut off all of your factory IFS=Independent Front Suspension and replace it with a solid axle. Its not as bad as it sounds.
You will need to lift the rear to match the front lift either way you go. IFS or SAS front lift. I don't know anything about the IFS lifts because that is always the first thing we cut off.
All of the SAS kit are of a good quality. I have installed all of them. For you guys I would suggest the Trail-Gear kit because it comes with Right Hand Steering.
No matter what you end up doing do it right the first time. It will be cheaper in the long run.
For the most accurate a quote you will need to go through our web site.

This truck passed all of the road tests with 3" SAS kit. I'm not sure what tire size that is in the picuture. Either 33" or 35".

Thanks,
Jason

why mod it if it already is more capable than you need it to be?
