Tyres

Post by gazza 1 »

Gooday guys , has any one had Ironman tyres on thier 4bs. There a company selling them real cheap on ebay for eg. 265x75x16 AT for $113.00 each or 275x75x16 AT for $129.00. I have never heard of this brand of tyre before. But there again ive had Hercules Terra Tracs for the last 4 years and are rapped in them, no complaints at all, and i had never heard of these ones before.
Thanks Gazza

Would you use noname condoms because they were 40% cheaper than one of the leading brands which you know has a minimal chance of failure?

Didn't think so.

Tyres are your primary connection to the road. You'd be crazy to skimp on them.

Yom, I would normally agree with what you are saying, but as i previously said , when i brought my Patrol it had a brand new set of Terra Trac tyres on it and i cant pick any faults at all with them. I have done Approx. 60,000 on them , they have about 6 mm of tread left (start with 12.5 mm ) I dont do heavy 4x4 driving but do tow a caravan but say again have had no problems with them. At the time when i got the Patrol ,no one that i spoke to had heard of Terra Tracs. So far 60,000 kls 4 years including towing a van around Victoria and to Queensland and back, not bad . At the moment you can get Terra Tracs fitted for around $180. 00 each which still isnt bad.
Thanks for your thoughts Gazza

It sure does depend on the use of the vehicle, but I can certainly say that I would be spending a little extra on a set of more common tyres.

LAst thing you want is to have a sidewall puncture and have to buy a complete set of new tyres because you can't source another spare of that particular type of tyre!

Been in this situation before with one of my last cars. The so called 'saving' (even though i was buying what was an exceptional tyre from a big name brand) quickly dissapeared.

Just food for thought anyway.
