Wifey says time to go from ute to wagon

My ears are red from the constant bashing they get from my girlfriend who reckons that before our round Oz trip that I should trade my GU coil cab for a new wagon. I'm slowly coming around to the idea but having a lot of time and $$'s invested in the ute would only upgrade to another GU so that I could swap as much of my gear in as possible.
Am considering a manual 4.8 or the 4.2 wagon.
Does anyone know of any incompatibilities - I know the 4.8 wagon runs the handbrake assembly on the rear callipers but was just going to change the diff centre rather than drop the whoel diff out.
On the front I was planning on just swapping the entire diff with control arms / panhard bars etc becuase I have already gone to the effort of installing castor correction plates and some gusseting.
Most of the barwork would stay because the ute has a 2" body lift and b/c of the airbag there is no way I can be bothered trying to convince an engineer to certify a body lifted wagon.
