Ebay kingpin kit and new bearings=spare bearing seal.

Post by foolsp33d »

ok so while the end is in sight for my kingpin bearing replacement(iv been putting off this dirty greasy icky should be paying some %^$ to do this for me job) with my $89 ebay kingpin rebuild kit...

This one...

Its all gone pretty well... replaced wheel bearings after chasing 50mm socket for ages, stole 'new' star locks out of the spare zuki as well as the bearing shims, got it all back together with loads of marine grease the correct torque specs, and still loosness.. Time for the king pins.. Bugger.. take it ALL back off :(

ah well.. shoit happens...

Have had no real dramas with installing the kingpins and seals as such.. pretty simple, mark and remove bolts from upper and lower k/pins, remove felt and seal at back, knuckle comes off, axle coems out, bearing races knocked out, icky gross grease gets cleaned out,inspection.. smile and reinstall... new grease back in knuckle, new races, new oil seal(little one just big enough for the axle, you get the idea.. you have all probably done it numerous times!

^^thats one of the new kingpin bearings for size comparison...^^

but just wondering where this sucker goes in? there certainly wasnt one inexistance when it came apart!! Pics would be real helpful.... or a link to a thread that has DETAILS and a decent diagram!? both the suzi and drover manuals left me no better off..

its not the oil seal/grease seal from the diff to the knuckle, thats HEAPS smaller, and is already installed.. i thought possibly back of inner wheel bearing?? already replaced this so do these become spares!???

Thanks in advance people!.. I know someone has the answer.. Show ya self! :D

Aren't there two per side to the wheel bearings? (in the knuckle) Thats what it looks like to me. Don't hold me to it though I'm lucky to remember how to tie my shoes.

That looks like the new seal you get for your wheel bearings that goes on the back. The pick of your kit shows two maybe you used one of your old ones buy accident.....? :?

i just didnt want the hassle of driving it then findng out something was missing or incorrect, oil/grease etc.. :)
