Talking to the local Nissan dealer today and he said that a new intercooled TD42T was coming out in about a month. He was sketchy on details, Just wondering if anyone has heard anything about it???

Have heard that it's supposed to be electronically controlled, (possibly drive by wire).
Can anyone confirm this or otherwise?
Would be a shame to not be able to fiddle!

He said that they were struggling to get the out TD42 emmisions legal, so it might have electronic control on the pump like some of the Yotas....

My dad was going to upgrade his one to the new one, but instead getting a superceeded TD42T GU, and going with a D&F Racing Intercooler.. Will save big $ going that way.
It was released in Nov to the dealers at Flinders...
It is sadly still a 4.2 (Big rumour was a 4.8!) IC TD, but nothing else has really changed. Few cosmetics, and updated gears in the gearbox, same ratios.
The IC is over the Engine like the 3.0,Neddies quoted are all shiat as they havent got tHe emissions correct yet, so until thats sorted, nothing will be correct.

Nissan have enen updated there web site to say the 4.2 is no more. Even the Ute is listed as 3lt.
No doubt there is one or 2 still floating around though.

I reckon nissan shot themselves (again) with the 3.0L in the ute.
No auto means they've just put themselves in the same boat as toyota for alot of fleet companies who prefer the auto transmissions.
The Patrol however has dual airbags whereas the Cruiser doesn't. This (along with lower servicing and repair costs) will put the 3.0L Cab chassis above the V8 Cruisers in many fleet operator's books.
So it may just sell OK yet. But if they all go to fleet operators you can bet the resales going to be shit.
I hope not though. I'm still not convinced on the 3.0L's reliability (nevermind my family is now onto our 3rd and haven't had a problem yet - *deliberately does not touch wood*) Wont stop me from putting ZD30 Hand Grenade stickers on my new (to me) GQ though!
