Did Australia get the Fuso Canter pickups? I'm trying to find the part number for the 5.29 gear set out of the Canter that will fit the Pajero with the 9.5 inch diff. it should source out of a Canter with a 2.8l diesel.

Yes we do.
I have looked into this but it's a dead end as far as I'm concerned.
Basically the 5.285 ratio is only available in the 2wd model Canter so even if it fits the 9.5" Pajero rear diff there is no front version.
The 4wd Canter version has 5.71 ratio's and that's way too high for onroad use in a Pajero.
Also the axles in these vehicles are all full floaters which could open up possibilities.

but wouldn't 5.29 and 5.285 be close enough to run together i mean it's ok to run 4.90's with 4.88's wih no problems. Another question would be even though its the same axle the actual carrier could be different to be able to bolt on the ring gear and there goes your locker options, and the axle shafts could be different for the new carrier there is a lot of things to try and figure out

I think you'll find your 5.29's are actually 5.285 on the ID plate.....

Well it would help if you explain what your thinking of doing ?
Lets just assume that the 9.5" 5.285 C&P actually fits a 9.5" Pajero rear diff. The only matching front 5.29 you can run with it is a 8" low pinion or a 7.25" high pinion.
IMHO a rear 9" 5.29 with custom axles would be all you need and will have more ground clearance.
You would need the part no for the Canter 5.285 C&P and also the centre and try to match this with the Paj 9.5".

I'm actually perfectly fine with my 4.90's and plan on keeping that ratio and buying t-case gears.
I'm just helping Lordtrunks and Lloyd find the gears, Lloyd is selling me his '95 but he wants to see if there is a 5.29 set for its rear end before he sells it.
