If i wanna get rid of the rubber coupling (1995 300TDI) on the rear driveshaft can i bolt a driveshaft up from an early series 1 (200TDI, solid uni) or do i have to change the flange/diff centre?

You beed to change the diff pinion flange at the same time. Simple job.

you also need the spacer thats behind the pinion flange.
might as well throw a new seal in it while your there.

Yeah you will need a new flange, spacer collar and 4 x bolts try http://www.discoweb.org/rotoconversion/index.htm

Does anyone have the thickness of that spacer?
I've got 24 spline bits to replace my old 10spline. I presume the 10spline diff drive flange will fit the 24sp diff (with the spacer)?

A friend of mine is selling his 98 D1 and I want to get rid of the rubber donut too. Can I just swap the tail shalft and the diff pinion adaptor from the friends car or will I need to change the diffs too?

Very interesting. I priced up a rotoflex coupling from the Uk delivered about $135 and in aus $160  How much does the conversion cost all up? Where do i get a 4 bolt flange and driveshaft?
