Outer Limits 4x4 Board

basically I have aswb high top zuk
putting in an sr20det auto maybe with a hilux xfer adapted to the back of the auto and hilux diffs

just trying to guage people thoughts on if I should use the current swb I have or get a lwb chassis/ maybe tub aswell and use it.

keeping in mind the length of the sr combo. or would the fact that the xfer is mated to the auto mean it may fit in lengthways in a swb.
ie I don't need the short jack shaft into sierra xfer

I am not keen on the maunual gearbox 3 reasons,
1 length and I can't be bothered trying to shorten it
2 I want an auto for of road
3 maunuals are expensive $600-700 auto are nearly free

should I just coil the rear and cut the high top into a ute whlie lenghtening the wheelbase.

or does someone have a chassis laying around they may want rid of.

I know there is a few guys with experience in this department. any help/info is good

except I know some of you small engine light weight nazis are going to ask why put that big heavy motor in a zook. why have all that power!
because I can and it will go faster than your 1.6 efi. and they are not that heavy

I had a 8v 1.6 in my LWB it made 124rwhp with a bit of force. SR's make what....160fwkw from factory? a damn good brake upgrade would be my advice...and maybe Medicare or similar

Just keep in eye on the weight of your car with dropping all that hilux gear into it.

EDIT: Just had a thought, seeing as how SR's and CA18's are alike in some ways, you may want to do a search here for people installing ca18det, i know 'offroad' has an auto CA18det in his zook running stock transfer and diffs (i think).

my last zook was a soft top and it was 1150 kg with hilux 37'"s mtrs 6 point, bar work and 1.6l carby.
so I would hope for similar weight with just motor and diffs. no cage or bars at start!

offroad is using a lwb, so I'd be keen to see what he thinks about the hilux xfer to sr gbox and the length in a swb!

wat ever u do the wb needs to be longer then a swb or it could get real scary. i recon in a swb if ur wheels got enough traction u would

so your saying it would hook up good for the quarter mile?

the swb thing is only a problem for me if it doesn't fit.
the physical wheel base for driving is not a huge problem for me at this stage. it won't be swb forever.

My mate fitted an sr20de (no t) into a swb sierra, by using a hybrid sr/skyline box.

He later fitted the same donk to a lwb with an auto. The auto added a heap of length, making a swb fitment tough.

I drove the swb on Ellis tk once, and it was real easy to lift front wheels, very scarey.

His lwb was engineered with the sr20de and there was a lot of things to do in order to please the engineer.
