Hey guys as above im thinking about tryin to squeeze a 4.8 into a shorty. My questions are. Has anyone dont it, will it fit and Whats it going to cost. I know that people have put 4.8s in gq's so i assume they fit but what needs changing. Ie engine mounts i assume the box will bolt up. Also how hard is all the wiring going to be and can you suggest anyone. and finally were to source a complete 4.8 with computer and loom
any help would be great
Thanks guys

hey mate...
Its been done, Pete GQHOON has one in his green shorty at ateco this year was naturally aspirated and now has been turboed.
Engine mounts will need to be changed you can use your manual gearbox.
Petes conversion was done at Ontrack in east keilor, however he purchased the motor from sandy at Hall 4x4.
In terms of getting it fitted you would probably best to speak with Ontrack as they have done 2 already i believe birdy is getting one also. Or you can see Joel at PGS as he intially tuned it when it was naturally aspirated and would also be able to fit the motor and have it tuned for you both companies are situated on either side of melbourne.
Hope the info was helpful

I reckon the hardest thing about the conversion would be getting your hands on an engine......

Chris at KJ's off road centre has done this conversion. Pretty straight forward really. They come up at around 120kw at the wheels in standard guise.
Give him a call. 5222 8665.

have a look here!
I believe the motor came from Fester out Minden way (West of Brisbane)
actually! On thinking some more
The chassis might be a shortened LWB
