tb42 cam shaft into td42???

can you put a tb42 cam shaft into a td42 heard you can gain some rpm by doing this??

Only thing they really share are the same capacity, exhaust manifold and bell housing.

so you cant just rip the diesel one out and throw the petrol one in??

Nope
the TB42 cam shaft runs the firing order of 1-5-3-6-2-4
TD42 runs 1-4-2-6-3-5 so the valves will be opening at the wrong time if you have a TB42 cam in a TD42 and vice versa as they have the lobes in different position

You can get the camshaft ground though. A fellow in Brisbane does an awsome job.

toughnut or whatever his name is has done the petrol cam in a diesel. a guy i work with has done the same thing on his GQ and now his GU pushing out alot of power.
