Has any tried or heard of an upgrade to the 80 series brake booster?

ie: is it possible to adapt a 100series or 120series booster to an 80series?

Any info would be awesome, thanks!

no...and why?? if it is brake performance, then you need larger discs or pistons in callipers,.

was talking to a mate who is a mechanic, he reckons the 80's are "under boosted" and also said that every 80 he gets into seems to have a spongier pedal than say a 100series!

I was more wondering if you can mix and match between 80's & 100's like you can on a WB to HQ for example!?

The 80 has the largest booster i know of...same as cressida, and twin diaphram...you could add a racing vacuum pump that would give the 80 booster more boost...the 100 std ran a 79 booster and 7/8 master as opposed to 80 serioes 1 inch master...if you want more brakes for less pedal effot, use one of these... and the 100 gxl ran electric servo...now that may be worth retroing, but it has abs incorperated, so may not bolt in nor work properly...but they sure do work better than 80.

Mine's got ABS so do reckon the GXL 100s elec servo one would fit, would it be too much of a mission to make it work?

soarers have electric brake thing too...

but the 100 one into 80 with the electric is not worth it....

Try changing to a better pad (bendix or something high end)

Just put a new master, Bendix 4wd pads front and rear, and flushed the entire system with new dot3 fluid! did it all last Friday, the pedal feels like it's doing something now, so my issues are fixed. (as far as the truck is concerned)

I was just curious to see if swapping the boosters around had been done before!?

FYI 100 series front brake pads fit into 80 series calipers..

They have a slightly larger pad contact area and from all reports increase braking output on the earlier trucks with 15 inch wheel and smaller rear brakes

A 16 wheel and brake conversion would be cheaper and easier than messing with all the abs crap

My trucks already got 16's, ABS, etc... (Sahara's had it all)

but that's handy to know about the 100's pads, thanks i'll try it next time they need changing!
