ah no real difference other then badging except the mavericks are a bit more of a 'bits-a-car' the diff ratios are very unpredictable where as nissans had a pattern, other then that the cars are identical, all ford did was badge share with nissan

I read an article in 4wdmonthly i think years ago. Apparently Nissan was having difficulty marketing their patrols to farmers as there weren't many nissan dealerships in the bush and regional cities. Therefore servicing, etc. would be a pita.
They decided to broker a deal with ford and market the re-badged Maverick's at a lower cost to the Patrols. The farmer's could then get after sale help and servicing from local Ford dealership.
The arrangement obviously paid dividends and now their are many Nissan dealers around and the reputation of the Patrol is enough to sell itself.
So yeah, Maverick's and Patrols are the same vehicle bar paint colours and interior options. No Ti available on Mav's. Haven't heard about diff ratios before, but probably true. There seems to be more Mav's with factory rear locker fitted (XLT models) than Patrols too.

There is a TI version of the Maverick its called the XLT
It had all the power options and also came with the option of the factory rear locker.
the XL was comparable to the ST patrol, some had the power options, some didn't.
then there was the Maverick X which was the DX low end with bench front seats, drum rear brakes, the POS version

optional in XL and standard in XLT, ford and holden did alot of badge trading with nissan, mazda and toyota in those years.
The local car makers did not have any 4WD's so to get into the market ford got the Mav, like the econovan is a mazda, apollo is a pulsa, lexen a commodore, nissan also sold the Nissan UTILLITY a rebadged XF falcon ute, also ford Raider is a mazda bravo wagon.
Now most of the small cars and others supplied from Ford europe or Opel, Voxel ect.

As far as I know an XL wagon like mine has power windows/ central locking and 7 seats. The base line wagon has 5 seats and no power. The swb XL isn't ment to have power windows but not sure and the swb XLT is the top line power etc...
If your unsure of diff ratio just look at the compliance plate... last digits of the diff code ...
