Engineering drama's

Hi guys,
I am in the process of building up a GQ shorty and have already put a holden 5 litre in place. I am having a bit of trouble with the engineer as l am not keen on converting the vehicle to gas and he is keen. Has anybody been down the same road with the current EPA emissions regulations and not had to convert to gas ?

Is the 5 litre carby or EFI.

put vn heads and injection on it.
otherwise it will have to be gas

what year moddle is it
my engineer said it is fine and no problem on a 88...
just gotta run a cat converter and charcole canister and its all good

Sorry guys, should have put more info in the question.
The replacement 5 litre engine is out of a VS series II commodore (is that a 96 ?). It is replacing an "89" TD42. At the moment, the 5 litre is bog stock, l have a catalytic converter already in the system and will try and get all the std pollution gear back on (temporarily) that the holden engine originally came with. I am running a std VN computer which allowed me to get away without running all the unnecessary body control module wiring.
The only hiccup is that lm also running a T400 auto. Im guessing that the computer would be calibrated to run the T700 4 speed auto and so the T400 3 speed may load the engine up a little more.

U shouldn't have any problems getting that motor enginered with it being a 96 model going into an 88:?
If it was a carby model 5lt then you'd have to run straight gas.
maybe try another engineer ;)

If you run a 5lt manual comp and put a piggy back chip on it you wont have any problems, if not them you really should consider running the t700 as well, that way you would also get the benefit of having the o/d as well.

The only time LPG is required for engineering is when the new engine being fitted is older than the vehicles original engine.


Try another engineer that knows what he's on about ;)
