While in the bush today I lost feel in the brake pedal and had to give it a few pumps to get em back. I found the rear left smokin, the wheel, caliper etc was steaming. I pulled the caliper and disc off and found bugger all. Could it be the axle bearing or is it just the brake dragging? Any ideas?, cheers

You make a trip through water at all prior to the steam incident? If so thats probably the cause of the steam...
But sounds like it may be a bearing... jack it up and give it a shake does the wheel move? If so thats def a bearing.
Check all four corners too, just because it was steaming does not make it the cause of the soft pedal...

I should have said it was smokin, not steaming. I think you may be right with the bearing idea. I havent done one of them before, hope its nnot a prick., cheers

Just take it slowly, research the tools you need first... With the right tools the job isn't too bad.

Make sure its not just sticky slides on the calipers ,they DO give trouble.
Could be simple!!!!!

Yes it turned out to be sticky slides, there was a grove worn around one edge of the slide, sanded it out and rotated 180 degrees and no more sticking. Thanks for your help fellas.
