Longer U-Bolts - Sierra

Post by Hybrid »

I've been chasing some longer ubolts to accomodate some castor wedges. I also wouldn't mind putting an extra leaf in the drivers side to try to correct some of the lean. I've tried all the standard suspension places like pedders who can't really be bothered looking in there books to compare the measurements I give them. I tried ARB southside (Thanks matt) but had no luck there comparing it to other standard fare. Anyone know anywhere in brisbane I can pick some up off the shelf?

I recently replaced my front U-bolts and got replacements from Northcoast Suspension at Kunda Pk. I had to cut 30-35mm excess off each of them after fitting so they should be plenty long enough for an extra leaf and a castor wedge.

you can buy big ones and cut them down yourself from a suspension place... im pretty sure the u-bolts from a ford something or other are same as zuk too... cant remember the model though - i think its the low ute thing they made... courier? i dunno.

U-bolts

Post by jhsuzi »

I have found that most aftermarket u-bolts are longer in length than the standard u-bolts the vehicle came with. I have used Ironman and Maxi-trac and both have been a fair bit longer than standard U-bolts. I also had castor wedges in, no problems.

I bought my long U-Bolts from Rocky Road outfitters
I am not kidding when I say that from the time I put my order through their web site to the day they got to my front door was quicker then the couple of 4x4 shops that I rang to get back to me just to say they could not get the length I needed

If you're on the northside go to 4x4 trekmaster on pickering st enogerra, best prices I got and yes they are longer then standard. With the longer nuts they were still protuding a far way with 4 leaves in the pack

Carrolls in Industrial Avanue Wacol custom make U-bolts. I think they are $15 each. They made some for my Bullbar mounts. They also made them on the spot, only took a little while.
Wheeling on completely wicked angles, without even looking stable.
