Just wondering if there is anyone who can explain to me in depth how to brace a M8274 high mount winch (picks would be nice) Cheers

weld 2 tabs on each side of the drum housing and end plate on the back (about 1-2 oclock and 4-5 oclock if looking side on with the mounting to your left (vertical))

then put all thread through with 2 nuts sandwiching the tabs you just welded on to form spreader bars (cover with rubber, pvc or aluminum pipe/hose to protect your rope)

this is similar to the spreader bars on a low mount if you get the idea.

also drill the free spool through the freespool housing and pin (2.5mm hole) and put a K or R clip through to prevent it coming out unexpectedly.

and drill the hole in the brake shaft and tap it to put a bolt in and washer to assist the circlip to hold the braking force that can cause the circlip to fail. (this is hardened steel so use a TCT tip drill and good tap and lots of patience!)

also drill and tap drain and fill plugs in the housing and breather in the housing and motor and seal everything really well with good silicone.

add 6hp motor on 24 v and go comping :)

(search 8274 mods or high mount mods. lots and lots of pics.
