Is it 1.5"? I plan to bring back the standard size and remove the 2" exhaust after the muffler going to the rearmost tip.

mines 45mm internal dia and the pipe is stock, only thing i have done to mine is remove the cat convertor and factory muffler and replace them with coby's
just curous to why you are returning to stock size ..these motor really benifit from a free flow exhuast system.

Thank you for your reply sir! So 45mm is almost equivalent to 1.5" or exact 1.75" or 1 3/4". Our motor here in the Philippines is the HD-C 16valve, the OEM sizes gives good more power and torque backpressure in my experience. I also found the factory fitted muffler provided much better torque/power and fuel economy than the standard generic replacement fitted by exhaust shops here in NZ to my Feroza and petrol Rockies. (Ok...I'm greedy) A solution was to insert and weld a restrictor ring in the tail pipe at the 'outlet'.
Worked a treat, regained low end and hill climbing (motorway performance), plus economy. Couldn't believe that a woman needed to suggest it to Magoo Mufflers. DUH!

Tansy - I'm impressed, many guys wouldn't even understand the what's and whys - well done.
On the other side, a better air cleaner system, extractors and a better exhaust, particularly with a modified cam ( cam advance ) also kick things along.

mine must be an oddball then .... stock manifold..stock pipe size but no cat convertor and freeflow cobys instead of factory muffler, I return a fuel ecconomy of around 11 litres per 160km and prob have 20-30% more power over the original setup.MightyMouse wrote:Tansy - I'm impressed, many guys wouldn't even understand the what's and whys - well done.

with standard muffler setup and cat convertor i was using 17 litres per 160 km
this is a known benchmark for me as i drive this distance every day. too early in the morning to work out the ratio of litres per 100km
For Tansy's benefit that means it costs me less than $20 to drive from Whangarei to Auckland (164KM)
