Hey guys,
I'm in queensland, does anyone know the rules and process about getting a 1991 GQ Patrol through RWC, mod plated and registered with a 351 cleveland? Can I get it through on a Holley carb or do i need to run LPG as well?
cheers,

The rule is in qld the engine that you are using is the same age or newer than the vehicle that it is going into. If the engine is older, it must be on straight gas not dual fuel. It is to do with emission requirements. There is a new code of practice for vehicle mods being released that might change this. I`d ring around a few mod platers and talk to them on what they want before you take it for inspection. Cheers Woz WM Motorsport

i had a 351 Cleveland in my old LWB 79 F100, was only 2wd with 32" tyres, but god it got going, loved the mud thats for sure..
And for a close to 2.5 tonne truck, it was quicker off the mark then my old VY commo with full exhaust and extractor upgrades

Just curious as I,m currently thinking of the same conversion but what manifolds are you going to use to clear the clutch line if you use the standard one's they will run to close to the clutch line.

I'm still far from finished this conversion, I've just started trial fitting the extractors, I'm using a set of 2v 'motivator' tri y's. So far I can see that the clutch line needs to be moved / re-routed, and I'm not sure yet what to do about the slave cylinder....

I recently made some enquiries about putting a 302 Clevo in mine. apparantly the Pacemaker extractors have been used with some success.

why play with a 302 when you could just get 50 extra cubes for no difference??
just put a 351 in it. u will regret a 302 later on.

ummmm, they share the same rods and pistons..... ive changed 3 over now and they were all 5.8 litres. full rebuild and had forged rods etc. out of a 302/351 ordered...... 3 times same displacement...... same rods, same crank, same pistons, same heads (4 grand worth) all 351 crank and bearings and 302/351 rods and pistons. i can find a receipt if you like.

If you put a 351 crank in you will have to change the rods as the 302 has longer rods.

the new law states in QLD that in a gq patrol you can not put a motor bigger then a 5.8 lt motor so the 351 just fitt's in to the codes
hope that helps

302 is a 6" inch rod. The difference between 302 and 351 is the crank and rods. Pistons also have a different pin height.
302 is 3" stoke
351 is 3.5" stroke. Same bore size.
