Air-con help needed.

Okay so it's not exactly a 4b question but it is

I have a Charade and the air con stopped working.

It's a January 1993.
1.3lt fuel injected G102
With factory fitted Air-Con.

I was told by an Air-con mechanic that the 'Air-conditioner amplifier' has stopped working.
And they have not been able to find the part anywhere (new or second hand). and wanted to charge an arm and a leg to re-wire the whole system.

I have tried the local Daihatsu dealers and they say there are none of these parts available in Australia and they couldnt' be bothered to order one in for me.

So what I'm wanting to know is........
Does the Feroza/Rocky's run the same aircon system?
As I'm gonna raid the wreckers on the weekend to see If i can find a 'air-con amplifier' to suit.

Or do any of you know of a supplier where I could try to find one?

Or do any of you have one spare you want to sell?

I'm hoping that someone may be able to help me out with supplying/sourcing this part.
As I need to fix the Air-con so I can sell the car. (don't need it now I got the Fez

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Michael

You should be able to find plenty of Charade wrecks, whereas Feroza wrecks in Adelaide are few and far between.

Shop around because some places will just rip you off.

The Daihatsu dealer I rang today said that the part is $58 for a new one.
When I asked them to order one he said it's not worth their while :bad-words: :bad-words: :finger:

So I'm gonna try U-Pull-It on Sat.

complain to toyota head office - they established the "Daihatse parts network" and frankly "cant be bothered" isnt good enough.

If you let the dealers get away with type of crap soon nothing daihatsu will be available.

But - do a self serve job, its bound to be cheaper.

Try Northpoint Toyota at Hillcrest. I lodged a couple of complaints over similar responses about a year ago and they picked up their act after that! ;)

Or else go to www.daihatsu.com.au and lodge a complaint against whichever dealer it was and they'll get their behinds kicked as well.

And just to prove that there are good dealers out there - bought an idler arm of Yarra Valley Toyota ( one of Vics' Daihatsu parts suppliers ) and they were very business like - no problem, will be here by... do you want us to call when its in etc etc.

Havn't actually got it yet, so it could all go pear shaped, but at least they were professional when I placed the order.

Stick it to the bad ones.

Thanks for the leads guys.

I'll try the self-serve places first then if no luck I'll rattle some cages at Toyota

Someone on here had problems with a power window controller ( or something ) they took it to the local TV services guy and it was just some bad solder joints and cost almost nothing to fix.

If all else fails........
