diesel in a used fuel jerry can??

got a 25L used plastic fuel can at home which will be handy to carry more diesel wen i go away at the end of the year

just wanderin if its gonna pollute the diesel much and if its gonna damage me ute??? or wat i can use to really clean the can out......

suggestions please

It will be fine as long as there is only a dribble left in the can.
It will just dilute into the diesel.
No damage will be done.
In fact quite a few people mix a bit of petrol into their diesel to get a bit more go but its not really recomended :)

splash small amount of diesel around in it, if it's empty and ONLY petrol has been in it wont be a problem.

small amounts of unleaded or kero can be mixed with diesel to use as emergency alpine diesel etc if your stuck.

Shell be right, the filter should catch anyting. and work it out on a % scale. wouldnt even be .1%

Thats how i convince myself :rofl:

i think i remnber something about diesel not ment to be in plastice jerry cans???

however i am unsure about that.

Nah it is fine in plastic cans.
You can get special Diesel plastic cans but they are just colour coded yellow so you dont mix it up the Petrol cans which are coloured red.

is it petrol or diesel you cant carry outside the car, I know you cant carry petrol inside the car.. cant find the thread with the info

I thought you can carry either, as long as it's not on the rear - door or carrier, in case of being rear-ended.

The roof rack seems the way to go, with the only problem being the increased CofG.
