Bought my 92 4.2td swb about 5 weeks ago and finally got it on the road yesterday. Very happy with it beside a really bad vibration that starts of idle and stops and about 1200 rpm. the vibration feels like its through the whole drive line. If I take of fast or slow its still there. Only way to make it better it keep the revs up high when starting of. I put new engine mounts in and no change. Does it in low range 2 but not as bad if taking off down a slight incline. Gearbox mounts look ok. Anyone gots any ideas on what might be the problem. Its driving me crazy

mine does it too - seems to be backlash in the transfer case - happens around idle mines got 180k on it had 135 when i got it, im used too it now haven't had any dramas with it, a mates 05 GU td42t ute does the same thing just not as noisy (more sound deadening)

Mine's got it too (93 LWB manual 4.2D). Really farken annoying. Another GQ owner solved his with new tyres believe it or not so I'm giving that a go next week sometime. Going to 33's so if its the clutch or something else in the drivetrain and not the tyres I guess its just going to get worse with more stress on them.
