i have a 96 2.4 petrol hilux with a snorkle and every time i hit the smallest of puddles the thing stops and i have 2 get out pull all the leads off and wipe them dry i spray with wd40/rp7 before all trips to try waterprof i just get pissed off seeing a sierra or jimmy etc driving in mud holes over the bonnet with no probs yet i would be lucky to get through anything more then1/2 a foot deep with out the thing stopping. im not the lowest of hilux's getting round ither with 4inch lift and 33,s i dont look so cool taking the easy way round things just to avoid the smallest of bog holes my stock standard 1L sierra has been through deeper water wit no probs
is this normal what else can i do to try and stop this it has to be somthing else

iv got the 22r also, but the water doesnt effect it like yours seems to. sometimes when iv gone through big mud holes or water crossing it will run on 3 cylinders for a bit but i just clean out the dizzy cap and its no worries then, but it sure doesnt stop like you said... buy a diesel then you wont have to worry

Did you replace it with Genuine Toyota Leads and Cap or Aftermarket Leads and Cap from Repco or somewhere similar?

Not familiar with your rig but sometimes the coil is mounted on the shock tower or down low and gets wet easily.
If so move it up higher.
