Hilux Question by newbie

Excuse my ignorance, but would really appreciate advice as follows-
After noticing a decrease in sand traction from my twin diff locked (lokka)Lux, I have discovered that with the front drive shaft physically disconnected and the hubs in 4wd, I can turn one wheel independant of movement by the other.

My question is whether this is normal, or abnormal per consideration of a front diff lock. My suspicion is that this is abnormal, and either a sign of a faulty free wheeling hub or inoperative diff lock. Am I correct ?

With thanks,
Leithfield

sounds to me mate like you have a faulty diff lock.

Since an auto lock is meant to free spool when there is no power going through it it is probably ok. I know when I had my detriot I could free spin one wheel if I had it up on stands, but it allways worked 100% when driving it.

Found the fault - buggered free wheeling hub. Amazing what a bit of penetrating oil followed by a grease chaser can cure.

Thanks for the advice/help rendered.

Cheers,
Leithfield
