Outer Limits 4x4 Board

My GQ has a smart bar fitted. There is a steel section for mounting spotties, which has worked perfectly over the years.

On the passenger side, is a section with spaces for a couple of bolts, about 5cm apart. I presume this is for mouning an arial? It there a stanard bracket available? Do you need to fabricate one? Has anyone mounted an arial there? Do you have pics? Any drawbacks to mounting one on a plastic bar?

well, i suppose looking like a fool is a major drawback
