Deciding on 4wd.

Post by grepin »

I drove an 89 Landcruiser Sahara 4.2 TD the other day and am wondering how it compares to a TD 2.5 Pajero. I will be wanting to tow a 1.2 ton boat short ranges and beach work. Pajeros can be had for around $5K and the Landcruisers are about $7-8K in turb diesel.

Thanks

the 2.5TD is slow, but should tow the boat no trouble.

I find mine is slow off the line but once you get going it has plenty of poke from 30 - 60km/h

The cruiser 2ht motors are awsome but getting pretty old and worn out. I couldnt really find on with under 300-400k when I was looking around.

The 2.5 isnt the quickest thing around, I found the 2.8 a lot better. Tough call if your using it for towing. Pajeros are certianly a lot more comfortable and newer.

spend the extra and get a 2.8 TDI, a mate had one and said it hauled arse when towing an 1100kg trailer
