Provided its the same ratio ..... straight forward swap
( a differant ratio will cause grief when driving )
p/s
its much quicker and far less messy to swap the whole diff

The front and rear diffs need to be the exact same ratio......
change one and you have to change the other to suit.
If you only change the one diff to a diferant ratio the rig will be fighting against itself when in fourwheel drive
a bit like running with a work boot on ya left foot and a high heel on ya right foot.... it just dont work and you'll end up breaking something ..... expensive

Its not 'that' stupid..... others have done it before you even thought of it
&
They learnt that its not so much stupid but bloody expensive
It can actually work in the rigs favor provided the ratio on the front diff spins the wheels at a faster rate than the rears but it only works in some cases as a benifit.
A couple of mud racers I know actully run this setup, thoughts being that the front diff scrambles its way through while the rear diff does the bulk of the pushing, the front is supposed to clear the shyte away leaving a more solid footprint for the rears to get grip on.....
Much like a mountain climber does, the feet do the holding and pushing while the hands do the searching for grip.
In general offroad use tho it would mean an eventual broken bit......
Transfer, drive shaft, diff centre, CV's..... you know..... expensive stuff !
