Rover steering box replacement

The steering box in my Rangie is leaking a bit and I had to change my pitman arm but have not been able to get the replacement pitman arm to seat properly on the box.

It has a little bit of movement between box and arm no matter how much I tighten it up. The spline is old and had worn to my old pitman.

Time for a new box. Does anyone know the best place to get one?

What should I pay for a second hand (4 bolt type)?

I was quoted $950 for a reco box which seemed a bit high for a reco. If I buy a used one I will put new seals in it before putting it in so any tips here would not astray either.

Thanks

Try Mr Goodwrench (also trades as All Car Power Steering) at Bowen Hills in Brisbane. Had mine rebuilt for around $800. He removes the bush from the bottom of the box and replaces it with a bearing so that it will never leak again. He has both 3 and 4 bolt types.

Prices usually vary depending on whether the sector shaft needs replacing as part of the rebuild.
