my 04 triton is due for its timing belt. i was just wondering if anyone has done a timing belt on a 2.8lt turbo diesel before. i have done a couple of timing belts over the years but never on a diesel.the local dealer is going to charge to charge me 600-650 to do it. is it a big job? or is it just as easy to spend the money for them to do it

Is it a rubber belt or a timing chain?
I know mine has a chain, but some diesels have a belt, (like 90's luxs) which I think is a bit easier job.

If it were me, i'd only attempt it with the assistance of an extended manual (gregories etc)
I did a timing chain in a petrol hilux and was a fair job.
