Before I got 5.29 diff gears, I ran 33x12.5 tires with 4.625 diff gears, a 2.6L engine, a bad carb, and at high altitude (where I live is 6500 feet and I'd usually be driving between 5000 and 8000 feet) for almost a year. I got by with it but it was painful on the highway or climbing hills.
With both the new carb and the new gears, there is no issue. With a 3.5L you should be fine.

im sure they will work, but wont be the best set up. if its a 3.5 you would be best trying to find some 4.9s. but you will be able to use them, you may just find it doesnt quite have enough "kick" as it were.

i ran 35x13.5's with 4.27's on my '99 3.5l lwb for about a year and i didn't have any problems but i swapped in a set of 4.90's and it helped onroad a bit but it would have been better if i had stuck with the 4.27's and swapped in a t-case instead.

Why toastmaster ???
What happens if I run 32x11.5 with my V6 3.5 and 4.27 Diff Ratio ???
or 31x12.5 ???
I found a Front 4.9 Diff Ratio here in Chile, but I can not find yet 4.9 rear diiff ratio.
What do you recomend, maintain 4.27 Diff Ratio with 32x11.5 or 31x12.5 or swap 4.27 Diff Ratio by 4.9 and use 33x12.5 ???
Thanks

I think 1st you need to decide what size tyres you want to run adn what to use the vehicle for.
Then consider what will be the options, 4.27 would be ok off road with 33's if you get transfer gears. You could probably put up with it on road but it will be no rocket.
If you don't need 33's then run with 31's as you mentioned. Each progressive increase in size you will notice through the accelerator pedal and fuel economy.
4.27 and 33's with no transfer gears would be very unplesant off road.
My view
If you are using it off road and not in a hurry on road then 33's + low gears. (std diffs)
Off road and good on road - 33's + t case gears + 4.9 diffs.
Moderate off road - 33's + 4.9 diffs
Little off road - 31's + std.
I run 33's and had 4.636 diffs then went to 4.9 diffs, mainly for restoring on road power.

I have 33"s + 4.636 + 3.15 t/case gears in a 5sp 3.5 DOHC.
On road = fine
Offroad = fantastic
IMHO 4.27's would be horrible onroad and not much better offroad with 33"s.
31-33" = 4.636
35" = 4.90
But everyone is different I guess, why not borrow a set of 33"s from a mate to try out ?

i only realised just before i sold it that my shorty had the 4.6 centres, and not the 4.88 i always thought it did...
drove it that wya for 2 yrs i had it because i couldnt really go lower, but in fact i could, and that was the 3.0L with no tranny gears, it went everywhere i wanted it to and drove it everyday and even miss it now its gone,
too bad iv got 5.29, solid front, lockers, tranny gears now
its a different world, but definately horses for courses, the new paj is high, slow but VERY capable. I would definitely now say, like every else, figure pout what you want and buid from there.
some people would definitely not be happy driving my new paj, but i can live with it
