I am buying some Muddies as a replacement for my Bald AT's But i am wanting to Get some Highway Tyres for every day use..

What is available in a H/T not A/T..

What sorta $$$ would i be looking at for a 33x12.5

whilst it is mareketed as a AT the maxxis bravo 751 is a very good road tyre and they are available in 33x12.5 r15/16

In a HT? goto ya local shop, bridgestone make plenty..

Pirelli Scorpions - go look at them, they are sold as an AT, but thats an insult! Theres fuckin no chance they are an AT.

i dunno how long they was on th car for b4 i got em but i had em for 60k

I run BFG muddies as highway tyres anything under that is only a rim protector to stop you wearing the rims out on the hard stuff. You'll get any where from 60 to 80g out of them.

It will depend on a few things as to how much you will get out of them.
What rig they are on, eg cruiser or suzi
Balanced correctly
towing lots or not
etc etc etc

I have run a few sets now out to about 60,000kms to 70,000kms on my hilux and that was with a detriot diff lock in the rear and towing my work trailer everyday, yes they were basically racing slicks when I took them off.

Personly the only difference I see between running good quality muddies as highway tyres is the noise.

do the sums on a few xtra dollars in annual rubber at most and as said a few xtra hums of rubber noise.....

I heard someone here saying that aggressive tyres create a lot of wind resistance when travelling at high speeds, resulting in a significant loss of fuel economy especially at high speed. I know about the loss of economy, is the stated cause correct??

Also, I would think that you'd get much more k's out of a highway tyre than a muddy. Comments?

More likely they are bigger, bigger tyres will use more fuel but by the time you correct your speedo it isn't that much.

Probably, but most mud tyres have a much deeper treed then highway treeds so there for its going to be minimal and in my mind not worth the outlay in dollars to have 2 sets of tyres unless the offroad set is swampers or the like that wear out real quick, like 20 or 30g.

correct all round... muds do have worse fuel than HT's, HT's will be better on road in wet (although that isnt much of an issue these days), and you will get good klms out of road tire, although dont expect shit out of them on anything greasy offroad.
