15bt in a 80series

been looking at replacing 1hz done 340000kms in my 80 with factory turbo engine we hav done a 1hdfte conversion in my mates 47series with no dramas and goes great but we are looking at doing something different and going 15bt in the 80 with intercooler has anybody done this conversion :?: are they the same bellhousing bolt pattern as 1hz box any thoughts :?

You will need the B series bell housing and the B series gearbox.

I thought some of the jap spec ones had this engine?

4L 4 cylinder?

be cheaper on rego and insurance too, and you wouldnt lose much powa! schweeeet

These motors are not cheap either....they make more torque than a hdft and lower in the rev band too..so good for crawling...but highway might not be as good unless you go higher final drive.
You cant beat the straight in swap of the hdft in place of the 1hz...even the hdfte is do-able with wiring mods...

agree with you andrew would probably be easier to put 1hdfte in like i said we did my mates 47series ute with not any real dramas and with piggyback computers goes hard :D i run 35s so not sure on how the gearing would go on the 80 but after seeing that 40series shorty from malaysia with a 15bt in it go it might be worth the hassles hav seen 15bt,s for sale for 5500 exchange but not sure how much outright :?:
