Any handy hints for changing over radiator in a 1993 gxl.

Hi guys
i need to change over the following in my 80 series
*Radiator
*Radiator shoud
*Clutch fan
So any handy hints is it to hard to do or is it something i should have done by a expert?

All I can say is good luck. Some of the bolts are a little hard to get at. I've got big clumbsy hands and have removed mine to wash it before but it was abugger.

I'm looking at doing mine soon and a bloke from another forum sent me this.
I won't say it's completely without hassel, just easier than it would be without some advice.
Obviously start by removing the hoses. pretty obvious, (more fiddly if you run an auto) pop the shroud off by removing the top bolts and simply lifting it up. I didn't but if you want to unbolt the fan just so you don't risk hitting the fins it wouldn't hurt and is only four 12mil bolts (easier to take the viscous hub off)
At first glance the mains bolts that appear to hold it in place it a larger bolt on each side going through the front of the cross member. first catch is you do not need to undo this. (trust me, Bloody difficult).
Look down the side of the radiator you will see two nuts out the side, again you do not have to undo these but at the base is a bolt through the rubber mount. grab a 12mil and a few socket extentions. should be able to get this. book says you need to remove the battery. I already had mine out so I don't know if you can get out of doing that.
Remove the two bolts from each top corner holding the radiator to the bracket.
Slide yourself under the front, at the corner of the radiator, just about the main chassis you will find another two bolts each corner. not easy to see if you don't go looking for them.
This done it is still fiddly but possible to push the brackets back and slide the back towards the engine and then up and out. again I did it on my own but if you can rope somone in to help at this point it will be substantially easier for you. Where's home??
Good luck, on the upside the amount of space in the 80 series has plenty of space so that makes it a little easier. I have seen it a lot worse.
I haven't tried it yet but it seems OK.

Apparently from earlier discussion, you can get at the rad top bolts with a ratchet if you take off the centre brace under the bonnet catch...then the grill and light shrouds dont need to be disturbed... battery boxes need to come out, lift fan and shroud out together after taking top hose off

iv had my radiator out twice, first time was body lift second was to clean it, had no problem getting it in and out, i had my fan clutch out 3 times now first was coss i broke a blade on the fan and had to take it out to get to the fan, second was to top the clutch up with oil, and 3rd was coss it leaked some oil so i put more in and siliconed it up so non would leek.
