Is it possible to regulate the pressure of an efi fuel pump down to the psi needed for a carby?

Yes, you can run a bleeder valve to bleed excess pressure back to the tank, but im not sure how consistant this would be.

Yes it is possible, however it is more than likely going to be more economical and reliable to fit a low pressure electric pump.

That is what I have now but it is noisy and I cant help but think it will fail on me.

you'd need a high flow return or you'll destroy the EFI pump.
By the time you bought an efi pump, regulator, sorted the return, you'd also maybe need a swirl pot as the flow rate around the system would be such that if the pick up ran dry you'd lean out pretty quick.... I see lots of $$$$ and more complex stuff to fail - not to mention having to change your lines to EFI etc.
maybe experiment with some other pumps - any carby electric pump will me miles cheaper that EFI pumps.
Just my 2C

I have the original efi pump still in the tank all connected and all the original fuel lines are still connected so I was just wondering if I could restrict the flow enough?

Yea, maybe just with a regulator. There are normally two types - carby regs and efi regs. I don't know if a carby reg can deal with the high supply pressure or and efi reg can be turned down enough the do the job, but in your case it is an option if either can be made to work.

Most carby regs don't have return lines, you can buy an in tank lift pump that is low pressure that flows 220 (approx 600hp) litres per hour for a couple of hundred dollars. An adjustable EFI reg won't genearlly go down to low enough pressure, most will only drop to 20 psi or so you need 4-7psi for a carby.

Maybe you could also run a small surge tank which the efi pump fills, and have a return line slightly smaller than the supply line, then run the carby regulator off the surge tank too (the tank would obviously have to be completely sealed. May have to fit a bleed nipple too

Thought that might be the case.
