G'day fellas I've found a gq shorty that I'm thinking about buying. Its a supercharged tb42 running a straight gas research system. Just wondering if there's many problems associated with the gas with these engines and stuff to look out for when I go have a look at it.
Any advice would be awesome.
Cheers,
Ash.

Rust, rust and oh thats right rust.
Also the alloy heads can go soft causing headgasket issues, cracked and corroded heads etc. Most people I spoke to said that if you were buying a petrol GQ you should basically count on it needing a headjob. Theres alot of them out there with new headgaskets and welded up heads - these eventually fail.
Apart from that they're a bread'n'butter truck thats jazzed up to look sorta like a passenger wagon - its easy to spot most major issues. Sounds like it would be fun to drive - don't fall in love with the power, it might prove an expensive mistake!
Goodluck with it.

Thanks for your reply yom. The owner says its been rebuilt 55,000 k's ago to suit the blower and gas system so hope that rules out head issues. Its also got diff locks front and rear so can't wait to drive it!!
