tuning carby on a 91 mod sierra

hey all just wondering my zook is running rich as hell and starting to notice it on the fuel bill aswell i took it to my local mechanic and he told me that u need a special tool to tune it is this true if not i would love to know how ot tuneit so im not up for another carby but if so can i put a new model carby on or are they a diffrent set up thanks mate

There's no fuelling adjustment in a sierra carby, it's factory set AFAIK. The real question is why your carby has started delivering more fuel than it was - they normally go the other way.

I had similar issues when the choke clogged up... have a check and see if its that... (youll also notice a lumpy idle, some stalling and backfiring on downhills in gear).

Yep.

If the Zuk still has its auto choke, then it could be stuck on, hence chewing more fuel. Take it to a carby rebuilder or remove the auto choke, ie wire the choke open. Just let the car warm up a bit before driving.

choke is working fine i am now thinking it could just be a tired engine, hopefully if money prevails ill be getting a new engine within a few months anyway so ill jsut baby her till i get the new donk

There is one for the idle fuel mixture it is hidden under a tamperproof cap, but it is possible to remove the cap.
