4Runner: water in front footwells when it rains

As the title says.... when it rains, i get a foot full of water in both foot wells in the front of my 85 4Runner.

i have checked under teh Windscreen trim mouldings and around teh windsheild it self for lack of seal ... but it seems to be all good.

are there any common issues here or is this a one off? it's driving me nutty!

I'd drill holes in the floor if i didn't plan on driving through water any more ... but you know how that goes....

any help or what ever would make me a happy 4runner

thanks

got a hilux, that has the same problem.
Mine leaks from the firewall in the top seam. prob rust, but need to pull dash out to find it. The last hilux i had had the same thing too. rust in the top seam of the firewall.

This was happening to a mates hilux he seemed to think that if you dont seal up your aerial mount some water from rain can track down the outside your aerial cable into the cab. Sounds weird but it makes sense

Reach up under the dash and feal the very top outside corners at the front. You will have rust holes there. Its very common in all hilux's. Not much you can do to fix it other than stripping the entire dash and pulling the guards off as it will also be rusty behind the guards in the opposite area. It happens because the drains on the Valance panel under the windscreen get blocked with crap and it stays wet all the time.

sweet thanks guys...

i just did all the heater control cables so i had the entire dash out... first time.. my hilux will now be a much quicker affair. but i didn't notice any rust at all when i looked... i'll have to have a poke around again. i also took the L/S gaurd off to have a look and saw no rust. was an out back car so its preety clean of rust

I'll look at the antena too.

thanks a million guys
