thanks for replies......just disconected fuel line from filter to injector side.......cranked over engine ..........fuel pumped out but i do not have a pressure gauge to check..........fuel quantity that pumped out seemed enough...ie not a little amount.......i know this isn't accurate enough info..........ps i also have spark present........which leaves me to think injectors or something more sinister in the engine.correct if i'm wrong..but if the engine is running and then suddenly stops and then doesn't start.....chances of all injectors failing is remote?????? isn't it????? thanks

Ok, I'll invite critics, but petrol combustion, 4 stroke engines require, (1) compression,
(2) ignition and (3) fuel. You have apparently confirmed your motor is receiving fuel reasonably consistently. at least for test purposes Assuming your motor is not entirely worn out/ tired/ and has correct ignition, it should function... providing other unfortunate things are not occurring. For example you could have a cracked cylinder block or head/gasket. These will cause your motor to run very poorly. You would be describing major engine overheating issues also, if this was the case.
I am describing pretty basic stuff that might be wrong, it could be that more difficult issues are causing your problems. It is really difficult to diagnose this stuff on line. You would be advised to seek qualified assistance at your local garage/workshop.

what was initially wrong with my car was the rate of acceleration........and if you were doing 60k's and floored it it would seem to misfire but was more evident under no load ...........will be trying to get a mobile mechanic tomorrow...........might be my only option

OK - assuming you have fuel pressure and spark.

If you put the tip of a screwdriver on an injector and put your ear on the handle end, you should be able to hear the injectors clicking as you wind the engine over.

No clicking then no injection. If your getting diagnostic codes from the computer then its still working so there's hope

Check all the fuses associated with the injection system. Main EFI fuses must be OK as the fuel pump runs. IIRC the injector fuses and control relays are in a black box in front of the battery - lid has clips to keep it on and the components ID's are printed on the outside.

i had the same problem with mine after a hard days of roading in the uk i went through all the same stuff as u just to find out it was the fuel filter not letting enough fuel through i changed that and it started first time hope tht helps

i managed to get a compression tester and found i had no compression in all cylinders.......................what a pain.............anyone have suggestions as what to look for next......
