Yes I am now the owner of the russian box. Plans at the moment are to get a good tune, then some small TSLs so that she has a little more traction in the slippery stuff.
Will post pics tonight.

My understanding is they're a pretty tough go anywhere vehicle.
A bit like the Zooks actually - way more capable than people who aren't in the know, give them credit for.
Well done.
Might want to get the wiring looked at. My understanding is the electricals are pretty prone to problems.

Yes, luckly my housemate and good friend is an auto elec so I have that base covered. I was amazed at the amount of wiring for such a simple car. Mine even has headlight wipers!
I think the zooks have it over the lada's due to the live axel front, but it would be good to tag along on a zook day to see how they match up.
Now to find some 15 inch rims with the right offset...

Ladas have pretty decent rear articulation stock out of the box. I've had both and the Lada crapped on the stock Zook.

Hehehe, good to see that your not all just calling me mad! I am not going to go wild, my Pajero is my other 4wd its just that if I write the Lada off / trash it its only a couple of grand lost, if that. So I want to make it into a bit of a basher, I am surprised at how tough the bumper mounts are, and loving the fact that with one mate we can pick the fucker up and move it.

I haven't bought a new set of swampers for *ahem* 8 years... but our guys have gone through Exclusive Tyre Distributors in QLD (they're the cooper/Micky Thompson people), they have a distributor in Melbourne they freight to.
Otherwise, Pete Antunac now gets very good swamper pricing.

I have always been happy with ARB southern price/service.

Yes I have been a little lazy with posting up pics, but I did start some work on getting her towards RWC, a cracked wiper bottle was quickly fixed with some silicon and gaff tape. Still got to do something about the leaking fuel line, the previous owner must have been getting hidious mileage due to it, a good drip every two seconds or so, but only when the engine was running. Will post pics of the Brown Bandit tonight if I get some light.

thanks
so zook rims will fit
which means im gonna start looking for zook rims with 31" or bigger simexs
Posted: Wed Mar 12, 2008 1:47 pm
by Eddy
Any bigger than about 30" will require ... surgery ... of a less than subtle nature

by love ke70
and the front and rear is gonna be locked with a welder, the idea is subtle, the idea is cheap, nasty, fun and capable.
already got the lada out the back rusting away, just gotta get some time and money and finish some other things to start playing with it again, im sick of denting panels on the patrol, bring on lada bending

can't get keen on front cig locker. No freewheeling hubs to unlock in tight spots.

Thanks guys! I have been toying with the idea for a while - just took a bit to work up the courage to ask and hence admit to own my thoughts. This is not a 'coming out' - it may be just a stage I am going through!
