Hey all,
Does anybody know if there are pillar pods available for the 80 series? I called Autron but they have not tested their 'universal' model on the 80 series.
Thanks Bucko.

I bought an autron pillar gauge holder for my 79 series, it was ok but they arnt deep enough to hold the VDO boost gauges and pyrometer, so unless your mounting just electrical sensor water/oil temp they wont fit.

I realise ebay has lots to suit other vehicles but I want something that fits an 80s neatly. I need it for VDO boost & pryo so thanks for the tip regarding the depth.

Can make your own easy enough.....a mate help me do one up for my old 4runner. Just use PVC pipe, glue and bog to mold how you want to your original plastic pillar cover......sand it all back smooth and get it wrapped in matching vinyal....looks factory then ;)

Heres some pics

i have purchased the 2 single pillar pods, i have made the flat cover to go on the a pillar, now i just have to mould the pods onto the flat, smooth it off then get them done in abs plastic.

will be a few weeks yet though.

I also bought 'A pillar gauge holder' off AUTRON for my 100 series landcruiser this is new product line specific for the 100 .WHAT A LETDOWN for 150$$$........... .Once mounted in supposedly the right position the gauges cant be red , they are directed at your right elbow and the upper gauge position also covers the top third of the lower gauge !!! Have writen to AUTRON ON SEVERAL occasions with my claims but the simply dont give a SHIT !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Watch out when buying AUTRON products

Okay, job done. Now I wont have to hold the gauges while in a hill climb!

Best thing is this cost less than $20

Parts list:
50mm tow ball covers $6 each (Cargo Mate P/N BCIB from Autobarn)
Hose clamps $2 each
A couple of self tapping screws and a left over bit of split tube.

The look on the guys face who tried to sell me $60 pods, priceless!

Dont tell me your problems :D

I thought about using screws alone but the gauges are a tight fit and I didnt want to hit any screw heads. It certainly is rock solid with the hose clamps but I take the point its not everyones version of visual ‘bling’.[/quote]

I'll join the "looking for a gauge holder for my 80" club..

Some of the better ones that I have seen people come up with are below but I am still undecided which way to go, I was looking at mounting 4 (EGT, Oil Pressure, Water Temp and Boost) if possible but I think i am stuck for space so may have to settle for 3 - just have to decide which one to leave off.
