4 x 4 Store Turbochargers?

I notice that the 4x4 Store is selling Denco TC kits online for $300 less than Denco sells them. Does anyone know if the 4 x 4 Store kits are OK (eg not factory rejects, no missing bits, etc) and are there any recommendations for or against dealing with this organisation? Feel free to PM me if the answer is too toxic for the interweb. Thanx.

I have a denco kit on my ute, and for the amount it cost, i expected more.
sure the 114rwhp it now makes (on 33" claws) is sooo much better than stock td42 power, or lack there of. The engineering of denco's turbo setup is terrible. I did count the number of 90 degree bends that the air has to make, i can't remember exactly but i think there are 14 of them.

But, i think if you were going to keep boost >10PSI you could do up a kit yourself for much less, and have much less charged air flow restriction.

One good thing i will say about my denco kit is that my EGT's sit on about 200ish degrees while taking it easy 4x4ing. If i keep up it for a while and when cursing on the highway at 110kph (35" radial claws and 4.1 diff) they rise to around 315 degrees. When i really get up it in the middle of the day in soft dry sand i can see them hit 480degrees. I've never seen them go as high as 500 degrees

I'm going to chop some of the bends out of my denco kit to hopefully improve the flow and replace the GQ air filter with something better....one day.

drakan69 - you had your vehicle properly tuned by a diesel specialist? Those EGT's are quite low - it almost sounds like mabye its not getting enough fuel to make it get up and boogie like it should?

OK, possibly I didn't explain myself that well. I am going to buy a Denco kit. What I want to know is: are the 4x4 Store kits $300 cheaper because they are a bit dodgy or could this be a legit bargain?

I agree, I'd have it dyno tuned, and get way more neddies out of it, but then if your happy, your donk will last.

Best place I have ever dealt with mate and the price is that low because of bulk purchasing price. I find 4X4Store great

AJS what is the actual cost of the kit?

Thanks Linc, that's what I was hoping to hear.

Azzad, 4 x4 is selling them at $3145, Denco lists them at $3460.

dood thats a very soft tune if your only seeing 480deg
if you want more performace BOOST IT!
your EGTs are way low get the boost up to 15psi and crank the fuel up(get injector pump mods) get some high flow turbo spec injectors,
also get yourself an intercooler... if you not happy with that ... take it to 20psi... TD42s love boost
chopping the bends out you won't notice much difference
then i guess if you want more you can get LPG injection to go with it all
then if you want it to rev get it balanced

performace = money spent
performace = less engine life

Denco kit used to inc full exhaust too, which none of the others did. do they still inc exhaust?

Nope. From both outlets the exhaust is an added extra. 4 x 4 also sell the Denco 2.5 inch exhaust at about $520, from memory. Not relevant for me because I want a 3 inch and Denco don't make one, AFAIK.

Im wanting to go 3" with the exhaust also, is there much gain to be had between 2.5" and 3"

As I have 2.5" already

wait till you destroy the 2.5, cause sellin 2.5 aint easy, and new one for no real gain, maybe a tiny bit.

ya gympie dyno and diesel installed the kit, I think your just jealous I get better than stock TD42T power without the increase in heat.

care to put money on that? you underestimate the poor flow design of the denco kit.

I also think my fuel to power ratio is excellent, do you know of anyone else who can get 11.5L/100km while running 35x12.5x15 claws, 4.1:1 diff ratio, 7" of suspension lift while also putting 114rwhp to the ground with an old td42?

Jealous? LOL. :roll: I simply pointed out your vehicle has what appears to be a conservative tune for a td42

Your fuel to power ratio is determined by your right foot in one of these old diesels. You are getting very good fuel economy no doubt but there's more power to be had there and it will have little to no effect on your economy providing you don't start using that extra power. :) Theres nothing wrong with having more horsies in reserve - the issue is restraining yourself from using them :lol:

Mind you if you have a post 95 engine or it has a relatively unknown history its probably best to keep that lower power output if you're happy with it.

Yeah i was being a little sarcastic there with the jealous.

yeah my ute is a 95 model, so I'm a little reluctant to push it past 10lb, that's why I'll be taking a few of the bends out of the system and changing to a water to air i/c....just trying to help improve efficiency.

hopefully if the market picks up, next year will see a TB48+T conversion.

sorry about the hijack AJS.
