he went to a garage they checked the oil in the gearbox and said to him it was fine
then he asked if the transfer and gear box where conected so the oil could run tru both of them the mecanic said jes only need to check the oil in the gearbox and if there is enough oil it should be fine
yesterday i got the call the car wont move anny more went overthere and the tranny is totally gone
i asked him if he checked the oil an then he tolld me the story
he want to try to get the garage to pay for it

You just keep hearing this type of story again and again.

I believe its better to do it yourself if possible , sure we can make mistakes too, but if you read the manual you should be ok - and you certainly get to know your car.

And for the routine stuff its a money saver - and you know its done.

Not only that, but you've got a better chance of fixing things yourself should something break and leave you stuck on the side of the road... or in my case the middle of the road...

Had the alternator on my rocky die one night in the middle lane right in the city. Had blown the main fusible link and all sorts. I pulled a bit of wire from my aptly named "Oh s%$t" box I keep in the back and ran it between the battery and the fuel solenoid. Shorted the starter solenoid out and BRUMMM. Headlights and an engine was enough to get me home. I don't reckon the people waiting at the bus stop could believe what they were seeing...

Says a lot about how handy it can be to know your own vehicle....

Good luck getting the transfer sorted.

Cheers.
