Found this forum last week and it seems awesome. Usually hang out at the victorian pajero forum and the overlander forum. Seeing pajeros off road is what i love - i reckon there is a skill involved.
This question is similar to the earlier Triton question.
What is the max size tyre i can fit on my standard 15 inch chrome rims?? Mags are too expensive and i am not a huge fan of sunraysias.

Andrew, are they the 15x6" chromies ??
If so I wouldn't go any wider than a 10.5".
If they are a 15x7" no more than a 11.5" they seem to be the max sizes most blokes stick to.
An NG should run 32"s pretty much standard and 33"s with a 2" s/l or b/l.

thanks for that. im pretty sure they are 15x6 inch chrome rims.
ive got OME coils in the rear (which gave me 2 inches compared with sagged springs) and ive crancked the torsion bars 1 inch.
32's might be safe. what is that in todays numbers?

I would seriously invest in a set of 15x7 or 15x8 steelies. a much safer option if you want to run say 32's. 15x6 are too narrow for anything much wider than 10" tyre... Steelies are cheap as and tough as...

ive looked at the 4wd wire US based site to find examples of the tyre wheel combo i like.
Most guys are running 31s on standard rims (31x10.5 R15). they bulge a little but look good. i did notice one size and that was 31x9.5 R15. that size would obviously be better than a 10.5 for a 6 inch rim but pirelli dont make that size in a 15. might check other sites. I presume the 9.5 refers to the tyre width????
Has anyone seen australian examples of 31s on a 6 inch chrome rim?? ive seen a few but have been given the advice that its illegal and most tyre shops would not (should not) place a 31x10.5 onto a 6 inch rim. When im up for tyres (not soon unless i can trade in 3/4 worn tyres) should i ring around to see if tyre stores will do this for me?? Is it dangerous or is it just that the size goes outside the 15mm increase recemmended by the factory.
