But them and bolt them in.

I put 2 in lifted into mine and rides well ome 99 bucks each.

I have a 4 in lift in mine. they were about 15mm off the top of my haed shorter but with two magic buttons who cares.

Do not just bolt them in !

I have 80 series Konis in my GQ and you need to fit spacers to
the upper shock mount or else the shock will "top out"
and break. this depends on what lift you have, but if you have a 4 plus inch lift you can use about a 30mm spacer as the coils bind before you hit the bump stop much anyway, this can be fitted without a body lift but you need to holesaw a hole through inner guard to access the nut on top of the shock.
if you have standard type springs ie 2 to 3 inch lift, you really need about a 45 mm spacer. to allow for a bit of compression of the bumpstop( for jumps).

I made mine from 32mm round steel bar and cut them 45mm long
(3 per side) and then bored them 12mm clearance (half inch)

you need to grind the welds off of the original bolts as they are welded to the shock mounts. i used 12mm metric fine high tensile bolts , cad plated
with nylocks and spring washers length will depend on applic.
ation but make sure you have at least 3 threads showing past nut.
these shocks really travel well on a GQ so you need to make a spacer for your front brake line (piece of flat bar with two holes in it 65mm centers) should check this on a hoist at full droop. or you could put your rear brake line at the front and buy a longer one for the rear..
Also check that your coils are secure at full droop as mine tended to want to fall out

thanks for that does not sound to hard but would it be a good idea to extend my bump stops so coils dont bind up ? if so what what would you suggest?

I didnt touch my shock tower I have pedders bump stumps large one.

Shock never bottomed out.

35s with 3in body lift still tyres rub on gaurds, no probles with shocks but. I have launched the car and every thing

best to use a forklift or similar to load up the front of your car and then see if the coils bind before the bumpstop is hit or not. if your coils have one extra turn in them than standard then extending bumpstops down by the diameter of the spring (19mmm ?) should do the job. it is a close thing many dont worry about it . but there is also a lot of problems out there. definately need to extend shock tower and brake line.

I have twin 80 series shocks in the front of mine and with 75mm lift I needed to raise the hieght of the tower by about 45mm to allow the bumpstops to even touch before the shocks bottom. This is "L" Series N73 OME shocks so if you have standard N73 then it may be OK. But there is another thing people forget and that is for general 4x4 you want the ride hieght to have the shock in the middle of travel. This allows the shock to do it's job and also gives the best compromise between up and down travel.

Good point Darin.
The other good thing with this setup is the increased volume of the shock, for fade resistance, ace on corrugations.

This will do for a 2" and maybe 3"s but will still be too short for a 4" lift.

my shocks are n73 ome do i need to swap them for the "L" model or will these shocks work well in front ? i have n29L for the rear would you suggest 4in springs with these shocks ? i have already got a 2in body lift so i dont want to make the 4by unstable.

The N73L sliightly longer upgraded version. It will give greater oil volume and will last a bit longer and is the same price! I'd space the towers a bit and fit the N73L (but then that is hat I have done). If you are going to twin shocks then I would get the eye mount equivalnt (N76 I think) as the pin mounted have a habit of bending with hard use.
The 73's will do the job fine, but as you are modifying why not go that little bit extra!!!!!! Famous last words!

Above they are Ltrs to suit 2inch lift 80 series but prob same dimensions as 2inch 80 nitrocharger.
I was running them with 5inch springs

And I have em forsale if anyones keen :D :D
