80 series extended shock mounts after body lift...

Looking under the 80 the other day and was thinking that scene I have a two inch body lift I could potentially moodify my rear shock mounts to fit a two inch longer shock in. ie the two inch body lift has created a bit of room between the shock mount and the body.
I already have spring retainers so there is no chance of the springs falling out
It has also provided some room to raise the spare tyre mount by two inches as well.

Anyone thought about or looked into these ideas?

Looked into it without a body lift as there's still room above the bolt in plate that is the rear shock mount. My plan was to replace this bolt in plate with some tube and a plate welded to the bottom but found I couldn't get a large enough diameter tube in the stock gap to enable the sideways movement required for big axel droop.

I relocated my top shock mounts to the upper trailing arm mount, there are already extra holes in this mount suitable, causing the shock to lean in slightly. Some like this setup, some don't. I drove mountain roads a lot and it handled fine.

Acheived this with 3 inch springs and front sway bar still in (it's on 33" Coopers).

Thanks guys, it worked well. Certainly made the switch back to leaves in the Hilux a lot harder

I'll put some pics up during the week.
