how much to reco 5speed g'box
as topic says. Whats it cost to get a 5speed sierra g'box reco'd. mine sounds like its full of gravel. 2nd and 3rd gears are very crunchy and it has nasty bearing noises when at idle in neutral.(clutch out) thats not spigot bearing as that was new with clutch only 300kms ago.

Lowrangeoffroad do a rebuild kit for US$129 (+freight)

Not a bad price I reckon but if you look around you'll get another used box for about the same price locally that may not be perfect but will get you going without the hassle of a rebuild.
Six pack and an afternoon is all it takes to swap a gearbox.

Your nasty bearing noise at idle is the input shaft bearing.. My Sahara does the same.

Its a pretty good price from LowRange, especially considering it includes all the syncros!!want33s wrote:Lowrangeoffroad do a rebuild kit for US$129 (+freight)www.lowrangeoffroad.com

i usually check the oil after every trip out that involves water crossings (just about every one) and change it if it looks dodgy. same with t/case..
lkatest box died quickly as i had no choice but to drive it with water in it as the breather came off and it sucked in a heap of water.

Do you have any of your old box's (the ones you removed ? ) They are not a particularly had box to rebuild and the kit from LowRange seems pretty complete.
