Outer Limits 4x4 Board

Has anyone done this on their vehicle? Were the benefits worthwhile?

I intend doing the spring thing with a few leaves removed and some adjustable air bags for when I am carrying a decent load. I will do a U-bolt flip at the same time and get good shocks to suit. I am just looking for a better ride and some more flex and flexibility from the setup, without compromising load carrying ability. I am not a hard core 4WDer but more use my vehicle to get where I need to go, including lots of western/gulf (crap) road travelling.

While I am at it, I am considering a front end upgrade to coils. I believe the easiest option would be a 78 series upgrade. I believe an 80 series conversion would be even better articulation wise but I reckon it is too much of a hassle to make it fit. I have a mate that has done this and it involved changing the steering box etc. The other option I have considered is a full front five link conversion. What are peoples thoughts on them for a vehicle with my requirements? And any brand recommendations? I don't want it to be ANY less capable on road.

Come on guys. How about 78/79 series owners. Do you reckon that the rear spring ride and flex is much better than that of 75s that you have driven?

Can anyone please post a side on photo of their rear springs on a 78/79 Cruiser so I can see exactly what the difference is in spring shackle mount location?

Mate i do believe that my 79 is way more comforatable to travel in than me old 75, flex wise, the spring travel a lot easier than the shorter springs, will do measurements and pics when i get home this arvo just let us know what you need

I just wanna see where the spring shackle mounts are on the chassis exactly. A pic from four metres or so away, side on at about axle centre height with the wheel off would be great. If you are keen, measuring their position from a reference point that is the same on both 75 and 79 would be tops too.

i wouldn't think the 79 shackle mount position would be relative to 75 position due to the longer chassis. just get some 79 springs, work out your axle location and go from there.
