ive got a 86 dual cab lux with 2.4lt diesel and i want run 35inch tyres. ive been told to change diff ratios. i know a guy with 95 single cab lux with stock 2.8lt diesel and stock diffs and gears, etc, 2inch body and 2 inch springs and he runs 35s, he says the speedo is out a little but it runs fine. was there any difference in the diffs/gears between 2.4lt,86 and 2.8lt,95?? will my lux see any changes if i run 35 inch rubber. what is likely to happen?? why change if i dont need to?? please help

I'm running 35's on my hilux and am using 4.8 but mine would have a little more power to turn them so it might be advisable to get your hands on some 5.29 ratios

2.4 Diesel Hiluxes run 4.5 diffs. 2.8 Diesels run 4.3 diffs.

I agree I think you'd want at least 4.88's. To put gearing back to stock you would need about 5.13, so 5.29 might be an option but pinion strength becomes a bit marginal from what I have heard.

Off road you will be very hard on the clutch and hitting stuff way too fast with stock gearing and 35's. I think you shoudl look at some transfer gears too - A 2.4 isn't going to like all that traction.

Just my 2c
