Rear seat needed.

Needed urgently, a complete rear seat for a SWB Rocky. It needs to be the early models, around 1985. Im not sure if it mounts to the floor, or possible to the sides of the wheel arches. I also need the catches that the seat back locks into when in the normal position, looks like they mount onto the sides, just below the rear windows. Basically, I have to replace completely the rear seat into my daughters SWB, so we can fit a child restraint into it. I thought I had all the proper parts, but I find the seats out of the LWB are completely different. It looks like the seat in question is pretty short, fitting between the two rear wheel arches.
So, anyone know where there is a early SWB being wrecked?
Pickup can be arranged pretty much anywhere between Brissy and Gladstone. Cash paid on the spot. If further afield, then we will have to arrange freight.

I've got a LWB rocky in sydney... 1985. Sounds like the same kind of mounts as you describe. How sure are you that a LWB seat wont mount into the SWB?

If I was in a different position with regards jobs, and not actually trying to clean up some of my gear, i would grab the ebay special, not only for the seat, but the AC and PS. But the absolute last thing I need is another Rocky in the yard.

And yes, absolutely sure a LWB seat will not fit. I tried this afternoon, which is when I realised the problem. The extra length between the 2 models comes in the area behind the side doors, and in front of the rear wheel arch. This is the exact area where the rear seat lives. In the LWB, there is about 12-18 inches in front of the wheel arches, and the dropped floor that forms the cabin well. In the SWB its about 2 inches. The SWB seat has to either, fit between the wheel arches, or sit on top of them.

And, of course, in one of the cleanups I have had, the rear seat, which came with the Rocky I am currently working on, but wasnt fitted because of the rear drawer system, got turfed because I couldn't see it ever getting fitted into the rear of the vehicle, and because the upholstery was stuffed.

Ah fair enough...

Well sorry I can't help you then!

I think I'll be parting with the part rocky soon anyways, I dont have the time or energy for it unfortunately.

Are the SWB rear seats still a 3 seater or just 2 seats?

Given the width, assuming its between the arches, then I would reckon its 2 seats, BUT, Im pretty sure the original compliance plate says 5 seats.

I have to pull out my workshop manual to have a look, it has all the specs in it.

All fixed. I scored a rear seat out of a Feroza, including all necessary mounts, and retractable seat belts for $40. It will make it a 4 seater, but the seat fits neatly between the wheel arches. Just have to make up some backing plates for the mounts, catch, and the retractable seat belts. I will also fit a "crab bar" for the baby seat anchor points. Then get them certified by a local fitter who is authorised to do those inspections. I have already seen him, and told him what my plans are.
